Twisting Hawthorn

It was nearly sunset at Warbstow Bury. It had been a misty day for our walk at the coast, with cloud banks sitting just out over the sea and occasionally heading inland for a couple of kilometres to give a cooler and foggy air, but it was much brighter and warmer inland.

For the evening walk I just about caught the last of the evening’s low sunlight on this hawthorn. It was showing up all of the textures and all of the twisting and the turning that the tree had used in it’s struggle over the years to try to grow up in the exposed position it had settled in.
